Post-Release Party Syndrome

It has been a week since our Record Release Party and that week has been jam packed with activity...indirectly.
The band hasn't met as a whole in over a week but fans, venues, and business have been on full throttle in terms of said activity. Not only is our music finally online, our shirts and hard copy albums are officially sold out.

We are currently ordering more cd's and shirts for those who missed out at the release party so thanks for your patience.

We played 2 gigs this week but unfortunately both lacked a rhythm guitarist.
We have many gigs coming up and are hoping to line up even more.
If you haven't already check out our music online on our facebook, bandcamp, or itunes pages!
Thanks everyone!

Taylor and his people skills...

So Taylor Jones our drummer serves two purposes: Drum Master and connection maker. He has been constantly connecting with fans, handing out stickers, attending local shows, and working his ass off for the entirety of our existence. Recently, however, his labor has started to bear some real fat juicy fruit. We booked tons of shows (some paying some not..) through Taylor spanning from this week to April of next year. Furthermore, Taylor just received some mail, from a guy he became acquainted with, inquiring about promoting our band nationally through college radios, local radios, tv, etc. Now we haven't jumped on this opportunity yet (cant be too careful in the music industry) but I think we can credit Taylor with his relentless work towards developing good healthy connections with the right people. Props!

That Light at the end of the Tunnel

With our album release party approaching, (OCT. 6) we have been hard at work ordering merchandise, show props, and equipment. Furthermore, we have been stressing out finishing the album's touches with Aaron Rauber (producer) and organizing the event.
Fortunately things have been relatively smooth for us. T-shirts are coming along, buttons arrived, we got a banner shipping, posters in development, and ultimately an Album being set to drop very, very soon.
In order to promote our release we've been taking a lot of photos for our poster, flyers, etc.

Beach Groovin'

At the triathlon with some new met fans. Thanks for coming out!
Successful gig today at Lover's Point during the Triathlon! Along with the many athletes and spectators, we enjoyed the rare sunny day on a stage set up on the sand. We went on a journey lugging our equipment up and down stairs, but it was worth it for the fun show. Big thanks to Edison Cho for filling in today, he did great! We'll have pictures from the day up on our Facebook soon, so stay tuned to see some real wonderful pictures of us groovin' up on stage with the Pacific Ocean behind us and some fans that couldn't resist dancin' !
We are playing our next show at American Burger on September 23rd, 7-9pm. It's going to be FREE so we invite you, your friends, and your families to come and eat some tasty homestyle cookin' while listening to some rockin' music by Mozzo Kush!
Link to the event on Facebook

Hope to see you soon!

Don't forget to watch the "Making Of" video as well. We thank the music video workshop in Soledad for walking us through the movie making process and we thank Connexion Communitaria/TEDx for organizing the class. Also, we would like to thank our Producer Aaron Rauber for recording and producing our music. Enjoy!

Encouraging Day

Today we played a 2 hour set in Carmel Plaza through a line of shows called the "Up and Comers" series. We were chosen as one of the bands to play in the plaza and we had a great time. We brought back older originals and introduced a few covers as well. Also, we met some cool people from as far as France who enjoyed our music and that was encouraging. In face we made quite a profit in donations from all the wonderful audience members and passing shoppers. On another note, we broke 300 likes on facebook! Thanks to all of our supporters and fans we really thrive off of your love for music!

The American Dream

Hey there all you Mozzoballs, we've been keeping ourselves very busy recently! On Thursday we played a gig at American Burger in Monterey and we want to thank all the fans who came out to support us, the place was packed and we had a great time! Today, we met with CSUMB graduate Eric Palmer who co-directed our music video to "Checked In to Check Out" and made some final touches on the video which is due out this week. We'll be posting it on Facebook and Youtube so keep an eye out, we'll keep you updated! On another note, we've been slapping Mozzo Kush stickers around town and on school campus, fighting an ongoing battle with the librarians who keep taking them down, only to find two more the next day for every sticker they take down.

Business as Usual

Filming
We got more out of our Music Video experience than just a great experience and meeting cool people. We were contacted today by Megan Heath who has connections with the TEDx Youth @monterey event. She found out about us because she was the one who actually organized the music video workshop! The workshop is one of the TEDx programs for art and technology. We are honored to be able to say that Megan nominated us to perform at the upcoming TEDx event that will be held at either Sherwood Hall in Salinas or the CSUMB World Theatre. Both venues would provide a great stage for us to perform in exactly the way we would want to. On top of this, We have lined up gigs in Carmel Plaza and American Burger and have potential gigs at numerous other venues AND have begun the process of designing merchandise for our fans. We are going to start taking things pretty seriously from here on out. Check out our facebook for gig details!

Good Day

At the video workshop
We accomplished a lot today...Starting early in the morning we finished shooting our music video to our single "Checked in to Check Out" (WHICH IS FREE ON OUR BANDPAGE!) with the help of the Soledad music video class! In doing so we also got on good terms with record label CEO Fred Segura who is going to walk us through the process of successfully becoming a stable independent label band! Thanks! Then after a previous day's work of burning and packaging CD's we set up a little table at the Feast of Lanterns, an event that attracts people from all over the county, to hand out free samples of our single and promote our upcoming album over a broader network. We gave away 130 cds. Surprisingly one of the guys that picked up a sample invited us to join his party so he could play the song for everyone. Upon visiting his house, we were greeted with great hospitality and met some incredibly encouraging music lovers who, upon hearing our music, expressed their interest in our band. (That was extremely rewarding.) Then we stopped by The American Burger to hear the local band Grand Silver Dollar who rocked! WOWEE... all in one day. Things are rolling.

Shasta

We are in a little suite right below Mt. Shasta getting ready to eat. We just sent Kyler the mixed audio for "Old Boat" for both his opinion and additional sound effects. Also, we are setting up the design of our album and putting together the necessary components of our Bandcamp page so you can buy music. Stay tuned to find out when "Old Boat" is done!

The Cabin focusing
As the title of this entry suggests, we are currently inside a cabin in The Avenue Of Giants outside of Humboldt, CA mixing our self recorded original song "Old Boat". Initially we entered the cabin and Brent (THE FACILITATOR) got to work mixing and editing the already recorded tracks for a first draft. Then Mikey and Taylor (Kyler couldn't come) gave the mix a listen and we all collaborated to produce the final mix! Here are some pictures of us hard at work.

Some Pictures from Saturday

Thanks Nate! and thanks to all our fans! we appreciate all, ALL, support!

Mozzo Day

So today we got a ton done. With our unofficial 5th band member Nate Phillips (also in Phantom), we traveled to Soledad to film our music video for "Checked in to Check Out" with a group of filming instructors and students. Unfortunately, due to time restraints, we were unable to finish the whole video in 1 day so we will be returning soon! However, we took shots today using high definition cameras, sliding tripods (forgot their technical term), and the creative genius of Nate and the instructors, we finished footage for our instrumental segments. The narrative segments will be finished next time. Very excited! Furthermore, Nate shot pics for the band out in Soledad and Pacific Grove for our album cover and EPK both of which are in development. Check out our rough album cover made possible by the man himself: NATE PHILLIPS!

Phantom Collaboration!

Our guitarist and vocalist Kyler Mello is also in a band called Phantom, yes another very talented band, who specialize in electronic music! One of our projects involved the commissioning of Phantom to remix our song "Made Me". Interestingly, the original file they used to is not the track that will be on the album. The album will have a live instrumental arrangement but Phantom utilized an electric version of "Made Me" originally by Mikey Cho, Mozzo Kush's bassist. Phantom completely reinvented the tune and have released it on soundcloud and facebook. PLEASE check it out!!!

So close...

Aaron Rauber, the recording engineer working with us at Franklin St. Studios told us to visit him this week to hear the first draft of fully mixed tracks. We hope they're close to what we want and knowing Aaron they will be! Also on a side note, We will be filming a music video for our album's single "Checked in to Check Out" this saturday with a workshop in Soledad! It will be very entertaining...We've got our album cover idea down and will have the cover done soon. Things are working out well. this week

Home Studio progress!

Wow surprisingly our little home studio setup is sounding great! Much thanks to Brent, who actually knows what he is doing, the ballad bonus track titled "Old Boat" is becoming very experimental and unique! We've implemented a live trumpet and hope to use other sounds during our recording session tomorrow. We plan to bring in some more equipment for recording and some more material for our aural pleasure in the coming days...good times.

Fresh out of the studio.  Waiting for the final mixes to be complete, and our album will be one step closer to completion!  We are currently self-recording an acoustic bonus track which will be on the final album, due out in mid to late August.  We have our youtube channel up and running with a video compilation of our time in Franklin Street Recording Studio with recording/mixing engineer Aaron Rauber.  Lots of stuff left to do, we are so stoked to see our debut album coming together.  Like us on Facebook, subscribe to our youtube channel, and get ready to hear more soon from Mozzo Kush
